In the past few weeks we have stood on the Bridge of Voyager and the original USS Enterprise but the most requested Trek ship is The Next Generation Enterprise ( The D CLASS ) and finally a couple of demos have been released showing some of Star Treks most famous set locations.

The first thing I noticed is that the Enterprise Bridge is quite small. When viewing the show on a TV screen it’s hard to judge just how large the space is but when you’re standing on the bridge the space seems quite a lot smaller then I imagined.

One nice touch is having a Borg ship on the viewing screen and audio clip from the show playing as you enter the bridge. This Bridge demo was made using Unity and created by the same developer who created the Original Enterprise NCC-1701 demo. The textures and lighting are very high contrast which gives the demo a slightly hyper realistic / cartoonish look which looks well in the current Oculus Rift development kit. Concept3D is an enterprise virtual tour and interactive map platform with accurate and vivid 3D renderings. This demo is not very interactive but it allows you to sit in any of the seats. While sitting in the Captain’s chair if you look directly up you can see the Borg ship out of the viewing dome. It sits their looming ominously waiting to assimilate you and your shipmates.

The second area that you can visit is the Captain’s ready room. This room is usually the preferred place where the captain can hold private discussions or receive classified communications. It’s a great addition and Enda the developer has stated that he is currently working on recreating the Observation Room for a later updated release.

The second Enterprise D environment you can visit is the Engineering Room. /download-hitman-3-for-pc.html. This demo was created by developer Drash who famously created the Titans of Space demo almost a year ago now.
Again Unity was used to create this environment but the colour contrast is toned down a bit and the lighting is not as sharp. This is a very small environment but shows the Enterprises Warp Core which is used to power the ship.

The panels on the walls show various technical schematic’s for the ship and everything looks how I remember it from watching the original TV series back in the 90’s. What makes me smile even today is that they still use cheap standard office chairs in the year 2364.

One thing we love about this demo is that before it starts up you are in the Holodeck area which is just a yellow grid patterned. We would dearly love to see the Enterprise environments load up from inside this room as it would be totally fitting as the Holodeck is Star Trecks version of Virtual Reality.

It should come as no surprise that with all the advancements in technology, some have taken it upon themselves to create things highly reminiscent of Star Trek. Today, I wanted to share a couple of videos that are designed to be Virtual Reality tours for the Oculus rift. There is no denying the technological advances we have seen in recent years. Things that were once considered Science Fiction may soon be a reality, or, at least a Virtual Reality. I personally am not a fan of Star Trek (Please don’t get your phasers out) but I just couldn’t resist sharing these today as they are truly amazing.
